Description

The Animal Control Officer (ACO) is tasked with enforcing State and local dog laws and ordinances. The ultimate goal of the ACO is to reunite dogs with their owners. Please contact Brenda Winter at 585-314-5918 if your dog is missing, you find a dog, or a dog is running at large, etc. If you have any questions or concerns of abuse, neglect or wellbeing of a suspected dog, please call 911 for emergency situations and 315-946-9711 for non-emergent or suspected concerns that need to be investigated. If safe to do so, documentation thru photo or video is extremely invaluable, but not necessary, when reporting a complaint. Also, date(s) and time(s), and as many details as possible are extremely helpful when reporting a concern.

NYS Agriculture and Markets Law, Article 7, requires that dogs in NYS be licensed and wear their dog license tag. This does not apply to dogs under 4 months of age, or non-residents residing less than 30 days, providing dog is licensed in another state. All Wayne County Parks require you to have a valid license and NYS campgrounds require you to show an up-to-date rabies certificate. Please visit the Town Clerk's office to register you dog today! You will need to bring proof of updated rabies and if applicable, proof of spay or neutering. The cost to register is $7.50 for spay or neutered dogs and $15.50 for unaltered dogs. The dog impound rate is $45.00 if taken into custody, payable to the Town of Galen prior to retrieving the dog.
